WFMAF SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The WFMAF SCHOLARSHIP FUND will recognize the excellence of young martial artists by awarding the first scholarship monies to winning competitors at the 2017 U.S. Open Martial Arts Championship (USOMAC) on October 1st. The USOMAC judges will evaluate the technical skills and martial core values of martial arts students in junior high school, high school, and college who are in good standing with their martial arts schools, show good citizenship in their character, are competent in their academic studies, and demonstrate their excellence in martial skills and values. The WFMAF SCHOLARSHIP FUND will be awarded to the winning applicants in the categories listed below.

Each year, the WFMAF organizes the USOMAC as a global arena where martial artists of diverse styles can come together in friendly competition to show their unique skills and demonstrate the foundational, core values that unify all martial arts styles: self-discipline, self-respect and respect for others, the nurturing of personal growth, benevolence towards others, and the practice of inclusion of all peoples and cultures as a means to building a whole and healthy society. When young people channel their energy into a martial arts discipline, these core values are the character building principles and the structure upon which their futures unfold, and therefore the futures of the communities and societies in which they live.

The WFMAF SCHOLARSHIP FUND is an investment in the young martial artists who share the dedication to martial arts, who illustrate excellence in martial arts training, and who demonstrate martial arts core values. The WFMAF SCHOLARSHIP FUND also recognizes the martial arts schools and academic institutions that are helping to motivate these young martial artists into mature and responsible adults capable of making positive choices for themselves, and constructive contributions to their families, communities, and society.
