JUDGE CERTIFICATION

Judge Certification

The Judge Certification and its complementary training course are developed by the World Fighting Martial Arts Federation (WFMAF) to promote a unified standard for judging martial arts competitions at local, regional, national, and international levels. The WFMAF awards 3 classes of judge certifications: judge certification (levels 1 to 3), national judge certification, and international judge certification. The requirements specified below serve as guidelines for the judge certification.

To apply for judge certification, the applicant must be a member of the WFMAF and meet all the requirements for the level of judge certification applying for. Judge certifications awarded by other reputable martial arts organizations will be evaluated and considered toward the grading of the applicant. The judge certification is awarded to an applicant based upon the applicant’s completion of the Judge Certification training course, and the applicant’s scoring and judging ability in a demo environment provided by the WFMAF.

Class C - Judge Certification (Levels 1 to 3)

Applicants must take the judge certification training course and show their scoring and judging ability at these levels in a demo environment provided by the WFMAF. Judge Certification Levels 1 to 3 can be used only for amateur competitions at local and regional levels.

 

Judge Level 1 Certificate Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years required after earning black belt
  • Minimum age of 17 years old
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience required
  • Minimum judging experience of 2 competitions
  • Application Fee: $100

Judge Level 2 Certificate Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years required after earning Judge Level 1 Certification
  • Minimum age of 23 years old
  • Minimum 4 years of teaching experience required
  • Minimum judging experience of 4 competitions
  • Application Fee: $125

Judge Level 3 Certificate Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years required after earning Judge Level 2 Certification
  • Minimum age of 26 years old
  • Minimum 6 years of teaching experience required
  • Minimum judging experience of 6 competitions
  • Application Fee: $150
Class B - National Judge Certification

Applicants must take the judge certification training course and show their scoring and judging ability at this level in a demo environment provided by the WFMAF. National Judge Certification can be used for both amateur and professional competitions at local, regional, and national levels only.

National Judge Certificate Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years required after earning Judge Level 3 Certification
  • Minimum age of 35 years old
  • Minimum 10 years of teaching experience required
  • Minimum 10 years of active involvement as a competition judge required
  • Application Fee: $200
Class A - International Judge Certification

Applicants must take the judge certification training course and show their scoring and judging ability at this level in a demo environment provided by the WFMAF. International Judge Certification can be used for both amateur and professional competitions at local, regional, national, and international levels.

International Judge Certificate Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years required after earning International Judge Certification
  • Minimum age of 40 years old
  • Minimum 15 years of teaching experience required
  • Minimum 15 years of active involvement as a competition judge required
  • Application Fee: $300
