Silat Tunggal

TUNGGAL (Single) is the category of competition performed by one Persilat that performs his/her skill in Jurus Tunggal Baku (Single Compulsory Movement), accurately and firmly, complete soulfully with empty hands and with weapons according to rules and regulations apply for Tunggal category.

Rules for TUNGGAL (Single):

Weapons and Regulations

Pre-Teen golok metal or wood, non-sharp pointed with length between 20cm up to 30cm. With a width of between 2 cm to 3.5 cm. ‘Tongkat’, rattan with a length of between 100-150cm and diameter of between 1.5-2.5 cm.

Senior, golok metal or wood, non-sharp pointed with length between 30cm up to 40cm. With a width of between 2.5 cm to 4 cm. ‘Tongkat’, rattan with a length of between 150-180 cm and diameter of between 2.5-3.5 cm.

Weapons are certified and approved by the Competition Chairman and placed at quarantine. Before persilat enters arena persilat/coach will be allowed to collect immediately after name is announced

COMPETITION PROCEDURE FOR JURUS TUNGGAL

  • 5 Jury entering arena from right side of the Competition Chairman
  • Jury respect/report to the Competition Chairman that they are ready to carry out their duties.
  • Jury take positions
  • Persilat enters from left side of Competition Chairman walks to center of arena
  • Persilat walks to stand to place weapons
  • Persilat shows respect to Competition Chairman and turns back to show respect to Judges
  • Competition Chairman signals to Juries, timekeeper and competition official to alert them to begin.

RULES FOR JURUS TUNGGAL

  • Showcase 14 Jurus in 3 minutes
  • Tolerance of +/-10 seconds for pre-teen and pre-junior
  • Tolerance of +/-5 seconds for junior senior and masters
  • Showcase sequence, precision, techniques, rhythm of movement, firmness and expression
  • If contestant fails to continue performance (for whatever reason), Competition Chairman will declare DQ
  • Uttering of voice is allowed

PENALTIES FOR JURUS TUNGGAL

  • Mistake in movement sequence and techniques
  • -0.01 point each time mistake in movement sequence details and movement techniques
  • Persilat loses grip of weapon and it does not touch ground -0.01 point
  • Persilat drops weapon -0.5 points
  • Goes out of bounds -0.5 points
  • Attire is not according to rules or headgear or sarong falls off -0.5 points
  • Weapons come loose from the handle or breaks. Showcase will be stopped and declared DQ
  • Weapon accidentally released and hits jury = DQ

PENALTIES FOR TIME FACTOR IN JURUS TUNGGAL

Beyond Time Tolerances

  • 10 to 15 seconds – deduction of 1.0 point for Pre-teen and Pre-Junior categories
  • 5 to 10 seconds for Junior, Senior and masters categories deduction of 1.0 points
  • Should the showcase go beyond these tolerance period, the showcase will be stopped and declared disqualified.

SCORING OF JURUS TUNGGAL

Technical score includes the following elements:

a. The accuracy of movement in each Jurus

b. The accuracy of movement sequence

c. The accuracy of Jurus sequence

Score is obtained from the total number of movements in Jurus Tunggal (100 movements) deducted by the penalty points. -0.01 per penalty. 9.9 perfect

Subjective scores include the following elements:

a. The firmness of movements

b. The firmness of movement rhythm

c. The firmness of movement soulfulness

d. The firmness of power and stamina

Score ranges from 0.01 to 0.10 points which is the accumulated score of the four firmness elements.

DECISION OF WINNER FOR JURUS TUNGGAL

Winner is based on average score for performance 3 out of 5 jurors with elimination of highest and lowest score.

If scores are equal: may use standard deviation calculation(internationally) or

i) The contestant who gains the total highest Technique points from the 3 jurors.

ii) The contestant who gains the highest points in firmness, soulfulness and stamina from 3 jurors.

iii) The contestant whose duration of performance is the closest to precise time of 3 minutes.

iv) The winner is the contestant who gains the least penalty points.

v) If the result remains the same, the Competition Chairman will toss a coin on the mattress witnessed by Technical Delegate, Council of Juror and Team and managers of respective contestants.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNER FOR JURUS TUNGGAL

The score of each contestant is announced after the Jury has finished their task in giving a score to all contestants of every Jurus Tunggal (Single) category.

Total obtained scores will be shown in the scoring board while announced by the Competition Chairman except when using a digital scoring board where the scores from each Jury and total scores are displayed on the screen instantly.
